Howdy, brand new (enthusiastic) Tracks user here. Been at it for all of 2 days now and finally feel as if I’ve found “the one”. Kudos to all involved.

Is there some sort of “wiki-like” markup in use for Notes? I just added a note and managed to make my first line in a strikethrough format. My next note, I learned that “*” at the beginning of a line appears to disappear (a glance at source says that I created an unordered list).

Is there a page somewhere that would list what other formatting options are available?

Hi, I’m sure this is a very annoying question, but I’ve had a good look around and can’t figure out where to download the current build of v1.8 - is it available somewhere? Would be very grateful if so.

Also, is there any idea as to when 1.8 might be officially released? How’s development going?

Many thanks!

Hi, congratulations on Tracks. I was happy to find it; I’ve just downloaded and installed Tracks (1.041 on OSX).

Is it possible to nest projects in Tracks (i.e. create sub-projects)? Or, how does one go about organizing all the various, tiny actionable items that make up a real-world project?

For example, I’m overhauling my website (project), which includes a weblog, wiki, and archives. Reworking each of those is a sub-project, a parallel track, which further breaks down into software tasks, design work, and more. In order to drill down to and navigate Next Actions, both in planning and deciding where to turn my attention next, I seem to see projects as a trees. Can I do something like that in Tracks?

I’ve used kGTD quite happily for a few months but I really like working through the browser and was intrigued by what I read about Tracks. Also, it’s designed by a girl—I couldn’t resist!

Thanks much.

Hi,

I’m new to the Ruby&Rails;-environment so I have real hard time to understand how the mail integration should be done, so that incoming mail can be automagically sent to Tracks context.
I have tried to search this forum for it, but the threads do not have a concise steps for it.

The wiki nor the on-line manual do not give any hints.

I have installed version 1.7 on Centos 5.4. The email server (smtp/imap/pop) is on the same server with the Trakcs.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I am a happy user of tracks but one feature could be improved imho:

When one removes a Context a warning is presented.
Confirming this action also removes also all open (and closed?) actions belonging to this context.

It looks like a feature that is designed in, so no bug. But would it be an idea to transfer all
open actions to for instance a default context “inbox” or similar?

Now the open actions are removed and lost….

It seems (from searching these forums) that there is currently no ability to import data into Tracks… (i.e. using XML, CSV, Tab-Delimited)
Are there any near-term plans for that?

I recently switched to using ToodleDo because it was the only web-based GTD-friendly todo manager that allowed import (of my 700+ tasks - which came from Natara Bonsai on PalmOS).

I would also like to try out Tracks - because I’m playing with different GTD apps on my new Android phone that also syncs with an online web app. I need the ability to first import my 700+ todo list…

Shuffle just recently added sync support for Tracks.
ToodleDroid and GetItDone (I’m beta testing) both sync with ToodleDo.

Thanks!

what is the quickest way (least time for server to respond) to verify if the provided user credentials are valid using the REST api?

I can try something like:
curl -u username:p4ssw0rd -H “Content-Type: text/xml” http://tracks.tra.in/contexts.xml

But this could take a long time depending on how many contexts are available for the user.

I have tried the following and there may not be a todo with id “1”:
curl -u username:p4ssw0rd -H “Content-Type: text/xml” http://tracks.tra.in/todos/1.xml

Prior to Tracks 1.7, this used to return a successful server response, but its returning a 404 now (at least in tracks.tra.in)

Any feedback is really appreciated.

I could not find a feature suggestion area and perhaps someone may have a work-around for this.

Here’s what I am after.

We have repetitive tasks but they do not repeat on a schedule. For example, in our company we enroll new clients into various services. We have a check list. I would like to have a template for that check list.

So when a new enrollment is needed, I create a project using a template. That project has all of the steps pre-defined. Perhaps this is getting beyond the scope of Tracks, if yes, that’s fine. But would certainly be handy feature.
