Hi all,

first of all, I’d like to give my sincere thanks to bsag, Reinier, and all other members of the Tracks team for a really cool app. I’ve been using it for a couple of months and find it really useful. One great feature is the mobile view. Works really well even on my small screen cell phone.

I was a little surprised to see that noone really seem to use the Assembla wiki. Personally, I think wikis are great for documenting projects. I’d like to use it both as a scratch pad for ideas, as well as documenting serious development.

Is this something you’d advice against?

(I guess it may lead to quite a lot of email traffic if using it for jotting down ideas, but OTOH it is possible to turn off email notifications).

and I loved the way Tracks is setup as a webserver.

seeing them both work together would be great.

I have no clue in Ruby, but I once used Timeline inside Microsoft Sharepoint, so I guess integration into Tracks should be easier.

the thing I would like to see:
1. a page the shows all the tasks in a timeline.
2. a way to selective mark some todo not to show on the timelines

this can really help in planning a head with Track, and not just throwing ideas and todos into it.

Hello all, please advise me on where i should put this if this is not the optimal place.

In my line of work i often not only have projects and task for that project, but also specs and business notes are a large part of my daily work flow.

What i would like to see is a more integrated notes section of tracks. Imagine something like google notes capabilities merged into tracks.

Notes and notebooks could be separate and searchable while still associating notebooks or sections in a note book to a task.

Thoughts? Hope i’m not beating a dead horse here but searching the forums didnt reveal it to be so.

I found Track a great tool for self management.
when I offer it as a tool to some of my friends that mange a team of 3-6 people.
they had something missing.

getting all the team to use on tracks system, cause too many information.
we thought of using the tags for creating views for each person (but that just won’t work)

I had an idea to make a separate server for each team member, and a general view for the team leader that can collect the info from the other servers.

maybe a simpler solution can be implemented.
anyhow this could really help those out there that manage a team.

Hi All

I’m just starting out with GTD and Tracks.

I’ve entered my most obvious projects and actions, and already I’ve got a lot of actions on my home page.

It looks like they’re sorted based on date entered, but I’d rather be able to sort them based on the priority of the project so the thing at the top of the Home page is always the thing I should be working on next.

I’ve been dragging and dropping my so that they are ordered by priority (highest to lowest) on my projects page, and I was expecting the actions to appear sorted this way as well, but I don’t think they do.

Does this way of working sound like a good way?

Is there any way to make Tracks fit this model?

Cheers!

I respect what you have done with RoR and GTD.
What I really could like is an ability to work together.
Like reassign actions from a project to a co-worker.
This would expand the usage of this app, a lot I would think.
It would also intergrade the term “defere” an assignment to someone more suited.
I know this this would require a many-many relation database.
and some search changes, but I thing the project would benifit from it.

Am I missing something or is tracks. One of the major concepts of GTD is that Projects have a next action. The one thing you have to do next to move the project forward. I can’t see how to implement this in tracks. It seems that Tracks classes everything I add to a project as a next action. In fact the text says “Add A Next Action” when what I really want to do is add an action to the project but it won’t be the next action.

I know I could always make the next action the topmost action but that doesn’t help in reporting. For example, TiddlyWiki GTD has a report that shows you the next action for each project and the context so for example I could see all the “single next actions” for each of the 3 projects I’m working on whilst at the context of @Work.

This isn’t a huge issue I know and maybe I’m just missing something. I love the software, thank you. I have it installed locally on a Mac using Locomotive. I can’t remember where I got the instructions from but I think they were linked from this site, thanks to whoever posted them.
