I am writing down all my actions, sometimes i think of an extra step and want to add it to the top of the list of in the middle of the sequence of actions for a project.

I presume i am going blind but i cannot see an option for re-arranging the order of actions, could some point out how i do it?

Thank you so much as some of my project have a lot of steps smile

The quick answer is that you can’t re-order actions (within contexts or projects) yet. The ordering is only really important if there are dependencies (otherwise you could in theory do anything in the project next), and I’m hoping that the ability to add free-form tags to actions might help this situation. You could then label actions within projects as ‘nextaction’ and gather together all the next actions across projects and contexts.

So, see if you like the feature when we release the next stable release, and get back to us if it doesn’t quite fit what you want to do.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I am new to the whole GTD thing and only moved from google homepage todo list -> remember the milk -> tracks in the space of about 3 days smile

So with that caveat maybe i missing how i am meant to use the software, but at the moment i go to my home and i have about 100+ actions to do @computer, many of which are dependent on another action being completed, so i have decided to do the following.

Write out each project on paper, then copy that out into the Project notes, create the next action, when i complete the action, review the notes and move the next action up.

I would any feedback about using this method, i cant help feeling i am missing something here.

Great piece of software, thank you so much if i am still using it in a week i will probably get some of my team to install it, if we are all happy with it i would love to send you a small donation.

Regards

That sounds like a good strategy for now.

I’m currently thinking about ways to sort out the next things to do from all the stuff you have to do.

If you mark a next action as complete, then uncheck it from the completed actions, it will go to the bottom of the list in the Home page under the corresponding Project. Depending on how many NAs you have it could take some time, but it will give you the visual representation you desire until further functionality is built in to Tracks.

I too would like to see a Simple GTD like drag and drop for NAs, where you can drag NAs order and even associated project or context around.
