Any thought on leveraging Google Gears to create an offline / online capability?  I believe there was talk to have the offline capability - but was wondering if this could shortcut the development time for it.  Not sure if Google Gears is Windows only, but would have to look into it a little bit more.

Just a thought.

Cheers,
Henry

I haven’t had a chance to take a look at Google Gears yet (it is apparently cross-platform). It sounds like it might work quite well, but from what I hear from others, it’s more work to get Rails applications running on Google Gears than it is on Joyent’s Slingshot, which I have tested with Tracks (on Mac OS X), and it works very well. However, the support for Windows is apparently not as complete on Slingshot (yet), and Linux is also not supported.

I think we need to try both out after the next stable release and evaluate which is best. It’s quite nice to be spoilt for choice for online/offline functionality!

Hi,

quite an old post but what about this topic?
Are there any plans to implement an online / offline feature?
Google Gears will be available on android driven mobiles so it’s possible to have tracks in the pocket.
So the IN-Basket is just a fingertip away wink

Ah, sounds good. Hopefully it’s going to be integrated. Unfortunately I’m not capable of programming anything. Tried PHP, Python, Java but did not succeed :-(

For the “getting things done” method it is a great thing to have your lists always at hand. At the moment I copy & paste to my company blackberry but I’ll buy an iPhone so I need a good solution to get rid of this c&p thing.

We’ll see…

there is some code out there to email yourself any of the text feeds, that saves a copy-and-paste

see your integrations page at the bottom.

that should do the trick, although you can probably use the scheduling functionality of xp instead of cron…
