I just successfully installed Tracks 1.043 on my web server, and I am very happy overall.

I am considering updating to the trunk version, as I am interested in a more progressive development cycle. Speaking of which, is there a way to download the trunk version outside of svn?

Any suggestions regarding what issues I may run into? Risks?

Second topic: Can I alter the footer? Basically, I’d like to remove the footer entirely, or replace it with larger links for:

Contexts
Projects
Notes

(I say larger links, as I want to make the layout a bit more friendly for my cell phone’s web browser).

I’m afraid that you can only get the trunk via svn.

The risks are really the same with any development version: make sure that you’re backed up (a lot), so that if something goes wrong, you can reimport your database contents. Things sometimes break in the trunk as we’re working on it, so I wouldn’t rely on it as a production version. I also wouldn’t install it on a shared server, because while we haven’t come across any problems with it suddenly sucking up resources, it’s not as well tested in that respect as the stable versions. Have fun!

As for the footer, you could tinker with it if you like, but did you know that the trunk has a specific mobile version, tailored to small mobile phone browsers, presenting the maximum amount of information, with the fewest possible clicks?

I am using Tracks on a shared server, so I will refrain from using the Trunk version (as I don’t want to lose my account if one of the Trunk versions does start soaking up resources).

I truly hope there is another release soon that includes the new features.
