I’ve been running tracks-trunk for about a month.  Most is fine and dandy.  However, it’s slow to use on my iBook G4 (10.3.9).  I’ve noticed in general that scrolling transparency takes a huge CPU toll.  The browser doesn’t matter (Firefox2, Safari, Camino).  Other websites are just as bad, it’s not only Tracks.

As a work around, I’ve been using the spacebar to scroll entire pages at a time (reduce to one redraw).  Yesterday I hacked the CSS to revert to the old 1.043 style on-top scrolls-off-the-page and performance is back to normal, i.e. scrolls cleanly.

Does anyone else experience this?

I’ve got the same problem.

I’m using Tracks 1.6 with Firefox on Linux.
On Windows it’s fast but on Linux the scrolling is very very slow.

I edited the tracks_855.css file, and removed all the “opacity” things, now it’s a faster BUT… I can’t toggle the “Show notes” on the main page anymore :-(

Any ideas ?

I’m working on improving the menus. I’ll get rid of the transparency then.

The show notes is, IIRC, a seperate issue. Are you using Ubuntu? There is a fix in the git repo which will fix this.

BTW, it’s better to edit standard.css and not tracks_855.css. Then run rake asset:packager:build_all to regenerate the compressed css with your changes.
