I’m trying to figure out the best thing to do here. When I mark a project as complete, it still shows up in the project list. This gets a little confusing. I thought about deleting the project, but there is always the chance that I need to ‘re-open’ a completed project.

One solution would be to ‘archive’ projects so that they are not shown on the project list.

How do you handle this??

Just to clarify, when you mark a project as complete, it should disappear from the projects drop down in the form, but it will still appear in the /projects page. I tend to just mark them as complete for a while, but delete if I know it was a one off. However, I would like to add some way of archiving both projects and actions in the future, because (apart from anything else) it would allow you to clear out the database a bit.

Thanks, bsag. I use the /project page a few times a day to find projects without any next actions. So for me I have to mentally skip the completed projects when I am scanning the list. Maybe it would be useful to list the completed projects separately on that page, on the bottom of the open projects.

As a side note, it would also be nice if the add new project form was available in the top of the list. I have a long list of projects, so I’m always scrolling down to the bottom.

Is there any update on this? I would really like to clean up my completed projects (and like jpep, I don’t want to delete all the completed projects).

Also, the completed ARE showing up on the drop-down projects list for next actions. I think it may have happened when I dragged my completed projects to group them while on the project page. However, it may have happened some other time… Any way to change this?

what version of tracks are you using? We’re almost ready to release 1.5 where finished projects do not appear in the drop-down. Also in the /projects page completed project are grouped together and separated from the active projects.

aha. you can consider trying 1.5rc1. This version does not show completed projects. I don’t think we’ll be backporting it to 1.043
