Hello,

I’m running Tracks 1.04 on a shared web host (TextDrive). Operating system is FreeBSD 6.0 Stable.

I installed it last night and realized that the date/time is showing up as GMT - several hours off of my time zone “PST8PDT”.

I’ve edited the timezone setting in config/environment.rb, but I can’t seem to get it to take. Do I need to run a script to re-init the config?

I’ve tried the following values for the timezone:
PST8PDT
US/Los Angeles
US/Pacific Time

I believe the proper entry from /usr/share/zoneinfo/zone.tab is:

US     +340308-1181434 America/Los_Angeles   Pacific Time

What am I missing?

BTW, the server time is set to GMT (or at least that’s what /bin/date outputs), so that explains the GMT.

OK - answered my own question.

I set ENV[‘TZ’] = ‘America/Los_Angeles’ in config/environment.rb and then stopped and started the Rails app. Much better now!

Yep, that should work. Sometimes it can be tricky to find the correct timezone string, but the zoneinfo setting usually works.
