I have installed it on a sub-domain following the install instructions here:

http://www.getontracks.org/doc/chapter/2-installation.html

if there are other instructions specific to a host rather than local I was unable to find them. After install I ran:

script/server -e production

I was then able to log, setup, etc. Then Dreamhost shut me down and said that is an illegal command and I can’t run the webrick server and I need to use fcgi instead. That was my intention all along so I am wondering, did I do a local machine install on the server? Is there another installation guide specific to host installation?

Thanks a lot!

There was a guide over at the wiki, but I can’t find it anymore. I’ll ping BSAG if she still has the guide from before the migration to getontracks.org

Well - I have it working now but I am waiting to see if it is stable. The full thread is over here:

http://www.getontracks.org/forums/viewthread/320/

I made two changes:

1. I re-enabled Passenger in the Dreamhost panel (I originally had it enabled, then disabled it)

2. I don’t know if this was how it was supposed to be but I originally had the folders set up like:

my.domain.com/tracks/all_the_files_here

and could login and access it if I ran the webrick server at this url:

my.domain.com:3000

so I moved everything out of the tracks folder so it is like:

my.domain.com/all_the_files_here

and I can now login and access everything at my.domain.com and no longer need the ‘:3000’

I will repost if this doesn’t stay stable.

Thanks

I just finished installing successfully on Dreamhost… Before I saw this thread.

I documented it on http://www.getontracks.org/wiki/Dreamhost/ - if someone can go there and format it per the Wiki language it could be the basis for a nice tutorial.
