This is more of a question, but since it relates directly to the usage of Tracks I put the post here (if it needs to be moved let me know).

I do my weekly review (well, almost weekly reviews) by going through the projects I have. My problem is that a number of tasks really do not fit into any of my projects, mainly because they are smaller things that I need to do that will not be repeated. Tracks provides the “None” option for those, but if I choose that the tasks will not show up during my weekly review. Would it be possible to have None as an automatic active project in the next release of Tracks? I guess I could define a project and dump stuff into that, but thought others might have the same problem.

Claus

PS Tracks 1.7RC2 seems to be working fine for me. Only minor annoyance is that if I go the starred task window (which is how I keep track of my “next actions”) the “Deferred actions tagged with ‘starred’ ” view always expands. I can collapse it, but next time I go back to the view by clicking on the star on top it is expanded again.

I think it would be nice to have a view of your projects and todos for doing reviews. I’m not sure what it should look like

I’m not really convinced that adding a None-project is a good solution, it is more like a trick because Tracks doesn’t have a view for todos without a project

Please file an enhancement request for this. An easy change is to add a txt feed for todos without projects.

@collapse. This is a bug. I’ve looked into it before and it is not easy to fix though. I’m not sure if I filed a bugreport, so I you could check that for me?

Thanks

I have added two tickets: One enhancement and one defect for the “none” project and for the collapse problem.

The way I do the weekly review I simply go through each project in the Projects tab starting with the first and using the navigation. That works well, except for those actions that do not have an associated project. In that sense there is no need for another view for doing reviews, only an ability to find the no project actions.

I solved a similar problem in another online tool.  For those small actions, non-repeating, etc., I created a project called “General.”  Yes, I must manually choose that project every time.  However, it is a good habit to choose a project every time, as not to forget to add an important action to it’s Project and not have it get left off by accident and not seen when reviewing the project view.
