Took me ages to figure out how to install it correctly but I got there in the end!
I hope others will find it useful and maybe save some time! smile

Thanks for your instructions, appreciate it!

Meanwhile, have 2 questions please, hopefully someone can please advise…...they concern Step 2 - Create the MySQL Database section….

A.  Did step 1 in this section and phpmyadmin install was OK except for the following error message:

dbconfig-common: writing config to /etc/dbconfig-common/phpmyadmin.conf

***WARNING: ucf was run from a maintainer script that uses debconf, but the script did not pass—debconf -OK to ucf. The maintainer script should be fixed to not stop debconf before calling ucf, and pass it this parameter.

For now, ucf will revert to using old-style non-debconf prompting. Ugh!

Please inform the package maintainer about this problem.
———————————————————————————-

So, I assume that I can keep going with install for now, and then try and change this later, right?

B. Regarding the next step in that section, “Login at http://yourserver-ip/phpmyadmin…”

- Having problem logging in to phpmyadmin…have researched mysql and in turn edited the config.inc.php file…get error message when I try to login as root…only way I was able to login to page was by following this info from another forum I found:

- I restarted the mysql server like this so I could login:
Stop the MySQL server by using either of the following command
#/etc/init.d/mysql stop
Now you need to Start MySQL server without password
# mysqld_safe—skip-grant-tables &

Only problem is that when I did this I could login but I couldn’t save changes, getting error message about the fact that I had done skip-grant-tables…

Thanks for any advice!

Hi, great walkthrough, I’ve got down to Step 4.4 and am having the following problem

sean@irvken:/var/www/tracks$ sudo rake db:migrate RAILS_ENV=production
(in /var/www/tracks)
rake aborted!
production database is not configured

(See full trace by running task with—trace)
sean@irvken-ltsp:/var/www/tracks$

is it obvious what step I’ve missed, google is no help
