Hi all,

Just wanted some advice really. Been trying all day to get the latest version of Tracks working with Locomotive on my 10.4.8 box. So far absolutely zilch, nada, nowt, nothing.

Whenever I go to the browser and test it in localhost (127.0.0.1:3000/signup) I just get the standard “Safari cannot connect to the server”.

I’ve double and triple checked the installation files and cannot see any problems there with spaces or extra tabs etc.

Looking at the pile of hair on the floor it looks like I don’t need to visit the barber this week anyway.

Please help!

Is this what your Locomotive looks like?

yeah! Except mine 1.043 and I don’t have the extra /users/ in the location… Do you have a clue as to whats going on?

Yours should have “/Users/[your username]/Documents/tracks_1.043” then (confusingly, my username on my machine is “user”). Do you?

Yeah, I tried getting rid of the ‘~’ and replacing it with the full path and that made no difference at all.

Really stuck on this one… Can’t see how I have deviated on installation through following the Locomotion guide.

Just to doublecheck, eighteentee, you made sure that you’d copied the database.yml.tmpl and config/environment.rb.tmpl to database.yml and config/environment.rb, and also copied log.tmpl to log? I don’t have any experience with Locomotive personally, so i won’t be much help there.

Only other thing I can think of - make sure when you’re checking paths that you pay attention to the punctuation - I’ve had problems misreading underscores as hyphens or vice versa before.

Thanks for this, I really appreciate it.

Right, I copied log.tmpl to log, that was the only thing I hadn’t done. Guess what… That didn’t work either. :(

BUT!

I just downloaded the pre-made database.yml file from Jackens blog and it works! I notice there are some extra spaces contained in that file- that must have been the problem.

Thank you so much for all your help… Now I just need to figure out how to get it running on my web server!

Cheers!
