I’ve just upgraded to 1.043 from 1.041 and for some reason, it’s no longer taking my password. I went into the database.yml file and changed things to reflect the new directory and everything else seems to be working just fine. I am using Tracks with Locomotive under Mac OS X 10.4.8. I’m not a Ruby programmer, but am totally comfortable tinkering. Any help would be appreciated.

What’s probably happened is that you haven’t changed the salt in config/environment.rb: that encrypts your password, so if the salt in your upgraded installation isn’t the same one that you had in your old installation, the passwords won’t match. If you can’t remember what your salt was, then you can reset your password, as described in this thread.

Hope that helps.

If I still have my older folder, is there something I can copy over? I don’t know what the salt is or how to do what is explained in the thread you linked to.

Yes, if you still have the old folder, copy over config/environment.rb to replace config/environment.rb in the new folder. For future reference the salt is listed at the bottom of that file:

SALT = "change-me"
