Tracks featured in a podcast

Mike Lamb kindly let me know that Tracks was featured in the Cubicle Escape Podcast. They seemed to like Tracks, but have trouble with the installation, which I know many people do. I try to make installation as easy as possible, but Rails-based applications do unfortunately need quite a few dependencies to be installed first. As a side note, if you’re not an alpha level geek, it’s worth trying one of the one-click Rails environments. There’s Locomotive for Mac OS X and Instant Rails for Windows.

Unfortunately, this podcast was a waste of time. I thought that they would discuss what they liked about GTD and how they might implement it. NOPE. They just mentioned 3 other software titles and then talked about Tracks and how hard it was to install. And he was trying to install it on WinXP, so that he could see it with a cell phone…GOOD LUCK with that!!

My first install was with WinXP using the guide on this site and it was no problem at all. I am a NetAdmin and have a higher than normal technical background, so maybe for the casual computer user it is a hard install. If it is, get a gekk friend to do it for you!

I’m glad that you didn’t have too many problems, but some people do. It’s definitely the hardest part, that’s for sure wink
